It might be similar but I agree with the anon, there hair would probably be firm and kind of wiry.

^alternate theory: as bug aliens, they don't actually have hair. it's like a shell or part of an exoskeleton, and when they first see the kids' hair look messed up, they get concerned it's some kind of sign of ill health.

Headcanon: All trolls use copious amounts of hair gel to keep their hair in their usual shapes.
