Sincerely sorry for how much of a page-stretcher this is going to be but I REALLY wanted to overthink the consequences of Retcon John's taking the Ring of Life for himself:
1. Gamzee can't get the ring for Aranea (for obvious reasons) and won't be able to find it anywhere unless he catches up with Retcon John.
2. Aranea won't be able to enter the session (for lack of ring). Unless she has a back-up plan for this, this means that she won't be able to personally enact her schemes. How her and Gamzee will react to this in the new timeline has yet to be seen. This has a number of notable effects across the timeline, not the least of which being the erasure of the planetary billiards battle with Condy, but also including:
3. Jake not getting the LVL99 cheat code from Aranea and breaking a good chunk of Derse in the process. This also means he doesn't break out of Derse prison or materialize Imaginary Dirk through his beefed-up Hopey Thing. His sword doesn't either, which means no Jane-Jake kebab from [S] Game Over.
4. Roxy's going to still be imprisoned probably since the diversion created by Jake's Hopey Thing doesn't happen.
5. Jade won't need to transport the Hopey Thing to her planet, which means that the majority of the deaths in [S]Game Over are erased (to be specific, Karkat, Kanaya, Gamzee, and Terezi's). Jade's death via house and clock-screwery also shouldn't happen. As a side effect, this means that Grimbark Jade is still around and evil.
6. PM and Jack Noir are still going to arrive in-session with an alive and evil Jade, and that can't end well for anybody.
tl;dr Pretty much every death in [S] Game Over (and Game Over itself) gets erased from continuity, but Roxy and Jake are still in prison, Gamzee lives, and Jane and Jade are still alive and evil. 'course this is just the FIRST change Retcon John's going to make, but it's nice to see how one little change affects so much.
