Well, he did give him a thank you picture and does treat him differently than he treats the other humans (complete loathing), so that's something at least. Handing over a present and 'fangirling' hard over someone are some steps above merely tolerating a person. They have an interesting dynamic. Also, Dirk has talked so much with Caliborn that there is probably going to be follow-up of some fashion in the story itself.

Anyway, fandom is all about reinterpreting things. Fandom is going to have different interpretations of his dialogue with Dirk because there are a few different way it can be interpreted.

Regarding what people ship, people pair what they want to pair. Any murderer will continue to paired. Nothing stops shipping. Also, shipping isn't instrinsically linked to canon, people will ship what they want to regardless of canon events because they find it interesting.

He has said he tolerates Dirk though so I wouldn't totally shit on dirkuu yet. I'm sure some sort of culmination to that is yet to come.

I'm thinking Caliborn only "tolerates" Dirk because he mostly thinks of him as just another useful tool for his own selfish desires, instead of Dirk being is own person. I wouldn't be surprised if as LE he thought the same of the Felt and his other minions.

Yeah. no. Caliborn does not strike me as the type to suck up to anyone no matter how helpful they are. As books mentioned he does stuff that go beyond tolerating, and I can't imagine Caliborn would even have it in him to fake such a personality even if he wanted to. He's probably the most honest straightforward character in the series.

honest and straightforward outside of chess matches

It definitely shows with how awful he is at "twists," though.

The one thing that strikes me as odd in the face of Caliborn's supposed and demonstrated asociality is what he said when talking about Dirk.

Something about Dirk understanding "some things a guy's gotta get off his chest." Even if he has highly sociopathic tendencies, and even if this can be seen is him just using Dirk once again, saying "Sometimes I need to talk to somebody about stuff and nothing else will do" is definitely social behavior.

That isn't an asocial creature using people as playthings because they make noises or react when you say things to them. That's not playing pretend because you fancy the idea of acting like one of these alien creatures, which, depending on how you interpret it, can be said of some of Caliborn and Calliope's conversations. That strikes me as a legitimate desire to communicate born from sociality.

It is pretty fucking dangerous for Dirk to be talking to him and not know what he's dealing with, though. It's pretty much implied, I think, that Dirk thinks Caliborn is a troll, which have more similar human values and social responsibility.

always kind of been scared for dirk even when i thought uu was a troll

it is rather sweet though

tl;dr

Caliborn is a jerk and really dangerous, but is oddly more social -in nature- than what we were told about the cherub race.

calliope too despite her more subtle sociopathic behavior tbqh but that's more obvious

hussie writes such good "alien" characters

This shit is getting way too meta for me.

Yeah, I think I'm seeing what drove Lord English/Caliborn to murder Hussie and generally fuck shit up.

And now Caliborn has control of the keyboard and tower.

I wonder if Caliborn will try his hand at writing at the tower and end up becoming Lord English through shitty self-insert fanfic powers.

But that may make him too much like his sister for comfort.

JUST NOTICED THE MINI TOWER.

There are a few green lights in a mass of red. Could these be the remnants of Calliope? Also the contradictory paragraph is marked by a green circle/light on the screen-calliope fucking with Caliborn? Or was Gamzee doing the writing before?

Anon on HSG said it best. The exile station for the whole story.

This is absolutely insane.

And I'm loving every moment of it.

Even better: Lord English isn't Caliborn, he's Caliborn's shitty self-insert. Homestuck is at its core a tale about two green skull monsters shitting up a webcomic with fanfiction.

Roxy's void powers became 100% even more useful. If Caliborn is able to control the other characters' actions like a puppetmaster via this control tower, it would have been more chaos in the new session. Though I wonder what can he see through those monitors?

Since Caliborn isn't crying on the page where the text says he's crying, I think what he's found is less the reality-breaking machine and more an exile post. Which is on the same planet he's on because Sburb has gone even more off the rails than usual for the cherub session.

Exile station sounds about right, but who's doing the typing currently? I don't really see any non-ass-pull way to involve the Hussieverse right now… also I hope this works, once the 4th wall (the actual 4th wall, not the teleport gadget known as "4th wall") comes down, it *is* down for good.

Can I just say that the more meta HS becomes the more uncomfortable I get?

Let's just say I've read enough works of those Romantic period authors to absolutely HATE "It must have all been a dream" endings.
