That's it? The horror of trickster mode is that they never actually solve anything? Mneh. Kind of disappointing.

I am curious to know how they got here, though.

Chiding the Cherubs about their lollipop isn't really fair when you're about to give all of the alpha kids god tiers, Hussie.

i like how that was callie's idea

@Timeghoul: The beta kids got to godtier in a single day. I don't think the alphas are getting ahead of themselves, even if they haven't settled their problems.

I know, I meant that in regards to Hussie's spiel on using powerups to solve personal issues feeling kind of hypocritical when so far it seems to me that that is what happened with Dave and Rose.

I really don't think any of the godtier kid issues are solved yet.

I hope not.

Perhaps we're looking at it the wrong way. Becoming stronger isn't so much a solution, but it may be a means to an end. As well, I don't expect them to go god-tier here. Especially because Jake is NOT a dream-self. This could backfire horribly if they tried.

Man, I'd forgotten about that. It'd be hilarious if we had this badass ascension flash and at the end after Jane, Roxy, and Dirk have been revealed, we get to Jake and he's still just Jake.

edit: Actually Jake would be dead now that I think about it... Or Worse. Makes me wonder what would happen if someone tried to ascend on the wrong quest bed.

Wow look at them talking to each other instead of just being mad and misunderstanding each other, dreams really do come true.

But yeah Jake is the wildcard here... guess we'll have to wait and see.

TT: I guess the real problem is our clique was too small.
TT: Poor Jake was the only viable romantic target. I mean, considering our respective orientations.
TT: Maybe we just never knew enough people?
GG: Perhaps.

Dat foreshadowing.

I'm glad to see everyone talking now like actual mature people for the most part. I have a feeling Jane and Jake not talking now is going to come back to bite them later though, especially if Jake's ascension goes wrong. =/

Man, they're all so morose and pained, I can feel it. I just want to give them all a shower and a hot meal.

This was a really good update, finally problems are being discussed and things are being aired out a bit.

Getting some good Dirk/Jane and Jake/Roxy talks.

Agreed, but this actually feels like a really healthy update to me in the long run. All these wedges in between their collective friendship are being at least wiggled some with actual honest dialogue and admittance of personal shortcomings... It's the best I've felt about the alpha kids since we've returned to them.

I'm sure Hussie will rip out my heart soon enough so I better enjoy it while I can.

Also I'll leave this here.

I don't forsee anything quite so huge as Cascade without some equally huge pause... (unless Hussie is yet to spring it on us) but Cascade did have the majority of the betas going god tier...

Huge conversation in which we have males actually talking through and showing deep understanding of their emotions and those of their friends?
HELL.
FUCKING.
YES.

Hell, even people actually talking over each others' problems with each other is an hfy.

(Not to imply that I find the female element of the conversation anything but delightful, but seriously, you do not get enough of this stuff with male characters in general.)

Also, is this the part where things go boom in a spectacularly lime green manner? My body is ready.

So nobody is able to kill anyone.

This can only end one way: the partyboat and the meteor of angst drop in and accidentally crush the four of them, making them get tiger at the same time.
