Don't worry, Dave is not suicidal or anything.
He's just tired. Tired of the struggle. Tired of watching everything turn to dust. Because that is the curse of being the Hero of Time: even if you do not actually outlive them, you will watch everyone you care for die. Maybe even cause their deaths to preserve the alpha timeline. He is losing his sister to alcohol, already lost his girlfriend to a psychopatic clown, lost a good friend to the machinations of the Batterwitch, his brother to a sword, his alternate self to his depression and, even how warped their interactions were, lost Cal as well. That is why he had that conversation to Karkat, if they could still be friends after meeting up with the rest: because he did not want to lose another friend. Just like when he saw John again he was gone before they could really talk.
But still he has to soldier on. Never stopping, keeping his stride up forever. Putting his own happiness aside for the good of all.
Because that is the duty of a Knight.
Because that is the duty of a Strider.
*Standing ovation*
Ruse that was really stupidly corny.
But yeah
Dave is just done. Pretty cruel of Sburb to force the kid with the crippling self confidence issues to be the one to bear the greatest responsibility of managing the Alpha Timeline. One mistake on your part and everyone dies.
I'm also basically convinced at this point that Dave will be the one to die permanently. Especially with that "I'm done with time travel" bit. I don't know how well known the theory is anymore but that he would somehow get into Caliborn's session and scratch it, which would be what creates Alternate!Calliope and her timeline. Of course since LE exists Caliborn escapes his session eventually, but once he's left.. In that sense he would be dealing the death blow to English that he is supposed to deal, through Calliope, and also in doing so he would be erased by the Scratch, dying the comic's first Heroic death.
Heck if I were Hussie its what I'd do. Of course he'd downplay the hell out of it because I mean what else do you expect. He might almost gloss over it entirely. The bastard.

That is what Sburb does. Give the aspects and classes to the people that fit them the least. By forcing people into roles they are not suited for to force them to grow as people. This may very well be the case why so many sessions fail: people cannot get accustomed to their new role.
What do you think would have happened if Rose had been given the responsibility over the timeline? Or what John could have done with the powers of Space? Sburb does not cater to your fantasies: it teaches you responsibility and to grow instead of remaining stuck in what you were. Even if it is as warped as Eridan's or Gamzee's cases.
Sacrifices must be made to create something new. That is how Sburb creates new universes and shapes its players.
Aw snap! Shit just got real!
Dammit. I thought we were going somewhere straightforwardly dramatic there for a sec. Silly me.
...not that this isn't dramatic. But it's always hard to tell how serious characters are when they're talking about WV.

What? Characters actually hashing out their beef with each other? This was a good update.
Next up, a Dave clone steps in from the future and stops her.

BARK BARK HUGE BITCH
The updates are nice, but I'm really starting to feel an uncomfortable itch lately for this series. I don't want it to end, yeah, but with the pacing and content I don't have the same enthusiasm that I used to.
I honestly hope this changes soon. :c

The next update obviously has WV disarming Jade, sweeping her off her feet and smooching the Bark Side out of her.
WV then takes up Jade's sword and becomes the one to kill LE.

Will Dave use his time powers now? Will Jade psyche him out and teleport WV at the last minute? Will WV bit it again? Or will something different happen?
