Homestuck Music
Sadly not an announcement of a new Homestuck Music or the release of LOFAM 3 (though I am REALLY looking forward to that getting released sooner rather than later... they're just about done as far as I am aware)...

I thought that this would be a good time and place to start discussing some of the old tracks. Dust off the old MP3s and get to listening to the music that has gotten us this far!

So, I'll start with a question that has been posed to me not so long ago:

Question #1: What do you think is the MOST ICONIC song of Homestuck?

And by iconic I mean "the song that best represents the story of Homestuck as a whole."

Ah! And since we have those super gynormous composite songs known as Cascade and Descend -- Let's exempt those songs for this question.

So, discuss. :)

SBURBan Jungle, easily. There's not much else that's quite so tied to Homestuck as a concept, even if it is older and SBURB itself is less all-pervasively relevant now than in earlier acts.

Yeah, I agree with Snuffles. The song represented one of the first moments in the comic that made you go 'wow, this shit is gonna be awesome'. ALso the song seems to kind of represent the soundtrack as a whole, for the melodies in it are subtly repeated and referenced throughout the series. So yeah. Sburban Jungle. Great song.

Time for me to throw down a "but what about"

And I'm gonna say it right now.

"Savior of the Waking World" :3c

Savior of the Waking World is an amazing song and associated with a great and important moment in the comic. HOWEVER, the question was which is most iconic. SotWW gets a lot of its awesome by how it uses the strains of Doctor, which is heavily associated with John's Land and Quest, because it (Savior) is strongly associated with one of the most important moments of that quest. It is therefore pretty iconic, but only in relation to John, and even then, only for part of the array of stuff related to him, and you can't accept a song as the most iconic if it is only affiliated with part of the work in question. That'd be like saying Gary's/Blue's Champion theme is the most iconic song in Pokémon. It's mind-blowing, but no, it's not what people think when you say "Pokémon".

Also I, as a Homestuck fan who doesn't keep up with the musics, but is nonetheless relatively familiar with in-comic musics, had to look it up to remember which one SotWW was. So no icon prize from meh, at least.

It's How Do I Live (Bunny Back in the Box Version) by Michael Guy Bowman feat. Nick Smalley. This isn't even up for debate.

Challenge mode, y'all chumpsuckas: pick a track that has not been used in-comic at all. Or at least, not in a cinematic flash.

I choose "Variations".

I'm all for How do I live without you xD

Okay, legit, Sburban is one of the best songs. Though I do think Doctor/Savior is pretty up there.

So how about this one:

Which are your favorite 3 songs on Album 1-4?

Here we go: http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/album/homestuck-vol-1-4

my favorite song on that album and on any album is 'Showtime (Piano Refrain)'. I think its like my most played song or something lmao.

Number two is Doctor. Its grown on me massively over the years.

As for the third spot?? aaahhhhh...I kind of want to say Sburban Jungle, but my WV bias is leaning towards Vagabounce.

Heyheyhey, I'm not saying Sburban Jungle is better than Doctor/Savior. I don't generally make that kind of judgement. It's just better known and more associated with Homestuck as a whole.
