man though, all this picture prompts me to do is wonder why everyone draws John as this cutesy child. nobody draws him manly, even though he's about as respectably manly as any other male character in the comic (MORE so, maybe. he's the character who's explicitly associated with MANGRIT! but you never see that represented in fanart.)

In other news John is still a 13-16 year old boy. Boys biologically hit their physical growth spurts later, mangrit not withstanding. Quite honestly I feel more that people make Dave too hilariously sexy, though fanart is all about fun so who gives a flip.

See I've heard people say 'buff john is the most popular headcanon' and then now I hear 'wow there is no manly john' so this comment makes me confused???

Though I'd have to agree with Pie, because... John is a kid? Pics like this are nice.

I suppose it depends on which half of the fandom you inhabit. Het fans in this fandom LOOOOVE them some borderline-bara John (especially with Rose, I have noticed), whereas slash fans like to caricature John as a cutesy shota-type boy.

het fan = fan of heterosexual ships.

as opposed to a "slash" or "yaoi" fan (likes male homosexual ships) or a "femslash" or "yuri" fan (likes lesbian ships)
