^ That was me, logged out for some reason. And I now realize the competition would be waged not just between Dave and Rose, but against team Vantas/Maryam. Karkat and Kanaya think matespritship with one another would be weird and gross because of their special fraternal/sororal bond, so team Strider/Lalonde tries to one-up them in the category of "being bizarre taboo-oblivious aliens".
