The painted fingernails, hips, feet (although that seems like a style thing given Tav's as well), and overall body positioning made me think so.

I don't believe so. This artist is known for drawing "Transstuck" characters. They commonly draw John as FTM, and they draw pretty much all their male characters as less-than-masculine-presenting even when they are clearly identified as male. (I'm aware of them from their having caused a minor shitstorm among some people I know for drawing a fuckton of agender-Dirk-in-a-dress, soooo...)

All other commentary on Transstuck aside, I commend the artist's effort in drawing characters who are clearly trans without making them strip to their skivvies to show it, as I find that trend a little objectifying.
