It's worth spending the $10 for SA. After lurking for a few years, the thing that made me bit the bullet was the various Sonic Let's Plays by pokecapt & co. and The Dark Id's Let's Plays. They are also a decent place if you want to discuss Homestuck.

^IIRC, orenronen, the creator of the DR LP requested people not to do this...or at least not until the LP is done. But whatever.

Any reason why you don't like the SA forums other than have to pay for a one-time fee of $10 to actively participate and to avoid the pay wall?

I think this is just the first game which I thought was finished. The torrent itself even talks about getting an account to be up to date with the second one. Iunno though. I certainly didn't know of any "Do not surpass paywall do not collect 200 dollars" by the OP, doesn't look like the tumblr user did either.


I guess I'm just averse to paying for a forum. It feels like being charged to use a search engine. I understand why they do it and I suppose it's largely personal preference to not want to pay for content that later becomes free and I wouldn't participate on the forums myself anyways. If it's worth it to other people, more power to you.

(In my defense I am a poor college student who has had to squeeze three meals out of a ten dollar bill before.)

I'll take down that post though I suppose I should have just mailed the link to hc individually.

Hm, if I wasn't restricted by things I would rather not say, I would've bought a SA account a long time ago, I think. But until the day ever comes I'm stuck with the paywall - better than nothing, at least.

The LP was concluded in 2008 though.

As someone who did torrent the LP, I will say SA is not a thing I would spend money on because I straight up don't like the community. But to each their own.

Ah, I had no idea. I just started seeing stuff for it recently so I assumed it was ongoing, my mistake. Not too big on the community either, so I just don't look at threads there and just wait for stuff to show up in the archive.

^ That's pretty much me. It's just not something I am interested in spending money on, I would not assimilate well into the community nor would they probably have me.

The archive works perfectly fine for me 99% of the time, Dangan Ronpa is literally the only LP I've even considered downloading a torrent for or whatever. It's the only instance I've ever had to / felt the need to.

(compounded by the fact that this is for all intents and purposes the only way for English speakers to access the game and no not everyone has the luxury of shelling out ten bucks for 1 / 2 LPs)

But yes, to each their own. I read in the thread itself that many people did make the choice to buy a membership solely for the DR LP so it definitely helped out the site probably a fair amount. Good for it.
