it's okay, just a summation of the perception of non-HS/former-HS fans on current HS fans "integrating" into other fandoms like DR (and let's not forget Off and Ava's Demon)

I've found that the DR fans giving the most pushback against Homestuck fans getting into it are ex-Homestucks themselves who want no association with any aspect of their former fandom.

It's kind of depressing that so many people break badly with Homestuck fandom, or come to resent it after leaving, but I guess I understand why, since this fandom can be truly awfully behaved a lot of the time.

I've actually found a lot of people who break badly with the comic actually have become upset at HS canon myself. Or people crying about slash. But usually HS canon. The meta and the constant ship breaking in particular has pushed a lot of fans away. Though, the caucasian incident did give some tired fans the final shove as it were.

Well I certainly don't think the fact that many people in the fandom are considered "obnoxious shipping-obsessed bucket spitters" helps matters any.

Hell, I've seen DR fans complaining about people doing fan voice-acting for the game, because that's "disrespectful" to the original Japanese voice actors and not everything you do in every fandom has to be just like what you do in Homestuck fandom, you terrible people!

I don't think the fact HS fans are 'shipping obsessed' is what earns them a bad rap though since that can be said about literally every fandom ever.

besides... for some people the shipping is the one thing that still truly makes them happy about hs.
