I kinda do want to hear some details on how the same girl grew into both Aranea and Mindfang.

And maybe re: the other (d)ancestors too, but she seems like the most interestingly varied case.

(In other news, the fandom still doesn't know how to draw octahedra.)

Well, if you take notice, both Mindfang and Aranea were very dogmatic about the laws of society they grew up in. This meant they more or less grew up believing in the system and seeing themselves as being able to succeed within it. The difference being that Aranea grew up in a fascist form of government and so embraces the ideas of peace and love and helping the lower bloods (in a completely warped and unfair manner, but she believes it to be fair). Mindfang, on the flip side, grew up in a system revolving around killing and warfare, so she embraced means to end via violence and being ruthless to climb the ladder of prosperity.

And to continue the Serket comparisons, Vriska grew up having to kill or be eaten. This means while Mindfang killed for success and advancement towards a goal, Vriska did so as a means to survival. Unlike her counterparts, she is has no particular liking to the system of how things work, she is just stuck in it and has to make the best of it.
