I'm imagining that he's been honing these skills for years. One day he tried mocking one of them in his usual banter, but later he looked back on his attempt and was disgusted with himself. He knew he could have acted like them better. So he practiced over and over until he finally got the mannerisms and voice down perfectly. But it wasn't enough; he had to prepare for future squabbles with others! He was going to be the best damn impersonator he could be.
