Possibly a reference to the original Superman cartoons. Though really, more likely our culture has just incorporated iconic stuff like this into the everyday without even thinking about it.

I was just saying that the pose which Dave is using here is highly reminiscent of the literal animation used in some of the very classic supes cartoons moreso than the actual frames in the webcomic. More of a comment about how ubiquitous the 'superman holding glide' has become something that people emulate without thinking about it, same with the 'Birth of a Nation' charge cutaway.

@Elfaleon - I'd sort of find it hard to call it 'emulation' when I can think of no real alternatives which have been presented in media - at least with my viewing habits. Without alternatives to choose from, one really have to fight to avoid a path of least resistance. Which the author has done at times - but, really, Dave's decision not to do things at full strength would fit in with the Superman narrative.
