What? No, all of the pre-Scratch Homestuck kids (ie john et al) are all sixteen bt the time they arrive in the post-Scratch universe. At least , I think so!

Yeah, I was talking about how if they ere 13 in 2009, they'd be 18 in 2014. There was a bunch of "happy 18th!" art a while back, remember?

@Ninety, you're assuming the timeline of the comic follows real time. Which it does not. The three year jump was a convenient catch-up, but then the hiatus' made it fall behind again.

How do they know how much time has passed, or if time is even passing relative to Earth? Does Sburb/Sgrub/etc still operate on a 24hr/365 day/year cycle? If its longer/shorter, would they be above or below 18?

Hell, how does anyone ever keep track of time when talking space travel, at least on a calendar level, like they could use Earth standard, but that kinda screws the trolls.

On that note, roxy/dirk, were they raised on an Earth Calendar, Troll Calendar, or some weird Hyrbid Calendar?

Xenrek,

- It's three years because Rose said it would be three years.
- It's three years because John & Jade traveled 3 light-years - I'd trust a space player on that - at as close to light speed as Jade could manage.
- It was Jane's 16th birthday

although Sgrub might operate on a different day cycle, John's house still had power, and human timepieces. Same for Jade's house, as far as we can tell.

There would be no reason for Roxy and Dirk's year length to change beyond normal earth variations - whatever that would be if the world were flooded. And, still, computer clocks if nothing else.

And, fire-cycle obviously has preferences in cup size.

This is how you know how much time is passing. The comic itself provides the answer. This time scale shows up exactly 3 times at the end of each of the years that pass.

I know all that. I was talking out-of-universe(s).
