Anyone else notice similarities between the Gems and the Trolls? Think about it:
* Planet ruled by an evil dictator who conquered countless worlds, including Earth (The Condesce and Yellow Diamond)
* Technologically advanced but barbaric, weaponized society (Trolls are stated to be inherently violent, Peridot assumes every Earth thing she sees is a weapon).
* An intensely bigoted class system (the hemospectrum in Troll society, the enslavement of Pearls and possibly other "lesser" Gems on Gem Homeworld)
* A bizarre reproduction method and romance where gender doesn't matter (Trolls being weird in their mating habits and inherently bisexual, Gems having to sap planets dry to make new Gems and being inherently sexless)
* Both superficially resemble things from Earth and don't understand humans (Trolls resemble animals-mostly appearing to be humanoid invertebrates, Gems resemble common and not-so-common minerals)

The resemblance is striking, you think Rebecca Sugar is a Homestuck?

I'm not sure. Are the initial dates of those things compatible? Did Steven Universe begin production after the bigging of the Troll arc? Although I think the serious Steven Universe arc might have began at least aften that.

I must say I'm not that familiar with Steen Universe nor I like it that much.
