That part always confused me. So the Black Queen (Snowman)(Dersite) has blue blood, but the rest of the black carapaces, the dersites, have red blood? We've seen how the black king has red blood, so why is this?

Remember, her heart was the universe. Who knows what that does to your blood?

Plus, she's royalty. The blue blood can be something of a gag (though the concept of all carapacian royals having blue blood would have been a nice twist).

I always thought that the black queen's blood was blue because the trolls' universe was represented by blue (like in the shot of sollux's glasses) and the kids' was red

Snowman's blood is blue because Doc Scratch met her in pre-Midnight City, post-apocalyptic Alternia. During that meetup that we never see, she earns the name Snowman as well as her powers of Mind & Space (and possibly a bit of Time, too.) Her blue blood is a side-effect of those powers, as well as a pun on the blue stuff inside of a magic 8-ball ^__^
