It is possible to separate fanart from canon.

I find lots of fanart of pairings I really don't want / need to be end game absolutely adorable. That's the gift of fan works.

(Also you don't need to hate Terezi to feel that these two would be better off as great friends. That's silly.)

My heart puts the happiness of these two characters as individuals who I love and both deserve joy in their lives above ships.

My heart also appreciates fanart for being a way to throw care to the canon wind and have my shipping cake and my happiness cake and eat both at the same time too...

See, that's something I've never been able to do. To me shipping only works in the context of canon, which is why I abandoned Dirk/Roxy despite how perfect I think it is.
