Actually, no, canon!Jake would NOT do that.
Once you tell him flat-out that you don't give a rat's behind about what he's talking about, he'll understand and try to talk about it. (Like when Jane cussed him out on her birthday. He wanted to get to the bottom of why she was angry and didn't keep rambling. Correct me if I'm wrong.) If you don't, he won't. It's all because he doesn't pick up vibes like others do, since he lived on Hellmurder Island by himself without needing to care for anyone but himself when Grandma Harley died.
