ugh, i don't. so sick of the boys-rescuing-bad-girls trope.
if anyone breaks jade out of grimbarkness i hope it's rose or roxy. (more likely roxy, since she's the one with actual dibs on the condesce.) or she snaps out of it out of her own will, because she's a fucking badass who don't need nobody to save her but herself.

It would be cool to see Rose do that as a real narrative validation of their friendship (which has always seemed the scantest of the B1 kids' relationships, or at least the one Hussie is least interested in developing). John's a likelier candidate though.

I'm not looking at it as a girl / boy thing but rather a brother sister thing. Jade and John's actual familial ties get so overlooked when compared to the Derse siblings it would be nice.
And less like a damsel in distress and more like one member of a family leaning on another. Which isn't something I think needs to be shunned.
I'd be good with Rose too, then we can get a double snap-out-of-it for the price of one.

^ and Beel is right, theirs is pretty much the weakest link of friendship in the chain due to Hussie pretty much ignoring it.

I always figured on Karkat being the one to do it, given how fixated they were on each other (or, he was on her anyway) during the three-year timeskip. I don't exactly consider that a palatable option (all shipping aside I don't go for that "true love conquers all" nonsense), but it's on the table.
But yes a Rose would be nice. Where does that leave Jane, though?

what about nannasprite? she's presumably still floating around with the potential to become relevant. they could have a heart-to-heart, jane would snap "herself" out of it in a sense
if jane's text is red now it would even fit into the whole gag about one of two alternate selves having to type in red whenever they have a conversation
(i'd lay money on it being anyone but her, though. second best option is roxy... likeliest option is jake.)
