I'm pretty sure that, since he doesn't have wings, Lord English isn't actually a fully grown cherub. Either because he's still too young or the early predomination and/or time travel screwed up his maturation.

I'm tempted to believe the latter. It's clear killing Calliope early messed up a lot of things for Caliborn, I wouldn't be surprised to see it actually have physical negative implications on their body.

I like to think that Lord English is an adult, it's just that his lack of wings is symbolic of him becoming a literal manchild. Caliborn seems to share a few similarities to Mother's Porky in that he was involved in a role he was never meant to play and that he grew up to be bratty and child-like despite being an adult. Well, that's my take on it.

It does raise the question of what time shenanigans must happen to force Caliborn to fully mature then in such a short amount of time as to be logically feasible to the story. It's heavily implied cherubs live a long time so I don't see how it would be possible for him to reach full maturity in a few years.

So in other words, Lord English is not as powerful as he could have been. So just imagine how strong an adult Cherub is.

(also holy shit, what if the woman Calliope is looking for is her mom?)

Hmm. I agree that the whole early-predomination thing messed up his maturation, but I don't think it likely that LE is significantly less powerful than a healthily-matured cherub. Seems counter-intuitive from a Doylist perspective.

I think caliborn fucked up his sexual maturation by prematurely predominating, but not his ability to tap into the enyrjjies of a mature cherub. He clearly has the same glowy-glowy rainbow shit a sex snake has, but remains in humanoid form.

Between that and the lack of wings (which seem to be a trait of sexually mature cherubs in humanoid form)...I think he's essentially castrated himself.

I mean, if wings are a trait of post-pubescent cherubs, LE not having them is essentially equivalent to an enuch not having a beard, or a tomcat neutered before puberty not having the fluffy cheeks of one that was neutered afterwards or left intact.

And not turning into a snake? Clearly a metaphor for impotence.

I thought it was mostly clear that his early predomination due to Skaia-sanctioned cheating messed up his growth, leaving him perpetually in the invulnerability state of mating cherubs (since, you know, they have the same rainbow glow thing going on).

In other words, the big bad is unbeatable because he's a perpetually horny teenager. Goddammit, Hussie.
