In light of recent updates, (Jane turning the cherubs into Cals in [S] Act 6 Act 5 Act 2 and the skull of Jake's shirt turning into Cal)I'm starting to believe Cal is not only sentient, but that he's also trickster cherub.

I think the new joke is a lot better. It keeps the trolling about the trickster mode skin-tone, but tones it down and layers wordplay and callbacks (the fruit) on top of it.

Yes, and his apology came across as heartfelt (to me) and plus hey new fruit! now let us move on as a fandom and be terrified for these children as we should.

I understand what Hussie was trying to do with the original joke and wasn't offended by it, especially since he made that joke about how "trickster mode kids are canonically caucasian." I didn't see it as an attack on anyone who wants to draw non-white kids. Just that *trickster* kids are white for whatever reason.

That said, I'm not everyone and I'm uncomfortable with the idea that in-fandom bullying is going on because of it. I respect his decision and his reasons for changing it, and the new joke is well played.

Anyways, all these interactive panels remind me of some sort of children's edutainment game. Which is hilariously surreal in this comic.

What the hell is happening right now.

Mostly, I'm unhappy that it had to come to this, though I am glad he changed it. It was a joke that I thought shouldn't have been made because it was needling a very divisive topic which generates VERY strong reactions from people. PoCs,Caucasians, SJ people, and anti-censorship activists all get poked and Homestuck becomes the checkered battlefield that all this gets hashed out.

Anyways, I'm just going to leave it alone now and continue to watch Jane and Jake... be creepy as fuck. xD
