in my opinion, a crackship requires the characters to be from different pieces of media. but if one media is as big as, say, homestuck, there can be crackships within it. some examples:
Vriska x Sans <-crackship Vriska x Calliope <-rarepair John x Sawbuck <-crackship John x Eridan <-rarepair
Well the Glee wiki's definition is definitely wrong too. No relationship between two characters who have a strong friendship, for instance, is a crack ship.
