John beat the shit out of Caliborn, then poofed away.
Rose was forked by Condy and teleported away by Roxy.
Dave died on Jade's quest bed.
Jane and Jake got impaled.
Karkat was stabbed and thrown into lava.
Terezi was stabbed and thrown at a mountain, which exploded.
Kanaya was vaporized.
Gamzee was quartered.
Aranea was grabbed by the throat by Condy, and likely will be forked as well.

So what happened to Dirk and Sollux? Are they still around?

A lot are saying that this may be a doomed timeline, but idk

Man, it's been so long since we left that point. I completely forgot about all the shit going down and didn't feel anything about all these deaths. Too much all at once. :\

Course, death doesn't mean anything in Homestuck. Smells like a doomed timeline, but if it's not...Everyone's probably going to meet with Jade and Calliope (was that her name?), and everyone still alive (Jack, Spades Slick, Dirk) will do something to bring hulking Lord English. /crazy theory

For some reason I'm finding myself liking John's dialogue more and more. Maybe it's just because it's coming off as a more genuine reaction or because it's more to-the-point than usual, but "I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!" is one of my favorite lines in recent memory.

Oh, and something something really glad we might be seeing John taking advantage of his unique temporal superposition to fix the timeline so everybody lives.

Agreed. This was all stated WELL in advance. It was a unique plan by Aranea though, and we're seeing it fantastically fall apart. BUT the last time this happened also had lasting ramifications. I think, once more, Rose is... "escaping the wreckage". Or something.

Personally really pleased with the direction this is going. I think making them relatively standalone stories was the right choice. Especially given that a lot of the people who would by because crazy fans of Homestuck already spent money on it via Kickstarter. And also because I think it would be a stronger story if it had to stand on its own two feet and not the writhing mass of limblike things that is Homestuck continuity.

The two parallel storylines thing sounds a lot like Broken Age. Still, I'm fairly optimistic.

^ Especially since it was conceived of as two separate games, one of which might not be made, so they can focus on getting just the one done as well as they can.
The episodic stuff might be a little concerning in the sense of "will all the episodes make it out?" but on the other hand it also is more like familiar territory in terms of staggered release of partial content, and the story sounds like the kind of thing that could possibly benefit from it. So, yeah, hopeful.
