considering trolls don't give birth, there's no real reason for them to menstruate. obviously you can headcanon whatever you want, but troll periods are implicatively not canon compliant.
^Dirk's version of Cal wasn't empty; that's the point of the juju, the paradox being that it was always filled. The video following the final act of Homosuck to show Lil Cal's origins was to show the puppet's journey AFTER being filled and shot through the void.
So it's entirely possible that Cal COULD have influenced Dirk, but having his friends as a distraction and a positive light in his life helped him to avoid such negative affects. (Dirk's abuse of Jake is more due to his clingy nature, due to being alone and separate from other physical human contact his entire life, and also due to Hal's cunning and manipulative actions, which Dirk himself confirms in canon when he threatens to snap Hal in half, wherein he states that Hal bullied him into going through with his fucked up "wooing" plans; though, not to try and take away the blame from Dirk, because he WAS stupid enough to go through with it.)
Yes but also remember that Dirk believes that he would've been capable of abuse even without the puppet, but whether or not he would've done so depended on his enviroment. Dirk was even capable of abuse when it came to Jake, and his cal was empty so it couldn't even influence him but because of having friends and a heroic dave to idolize he came to understand that what he was doing was wrong. Beta Bro had no such luck, and the puppet definitely made his lack of empathy all the more aggresive but it wasn't entirely to blame, so yeah fuck that puppet.
^It's heavily implicated by Dave that Bro's behavior was due to Cal's influence; that being completely alone with that vessel of evil for so long wore him down and ruined him before he even got around to raising Dave. When going back through the first couple acts and seeing the comics Bro made (with all of the SAW references placed into them), it's not hard to believe that Bro was just a sentient puppet that Cal was pulling the strings to.
(Even more terrifying when taking Caliborn's essence inside of Cal into consideration; Dave got absolutely no kind of familial love or affection because, by cherub standards, that would have been considered "grotesque" and "inappropriate." Dave went his whole life feeling unloved because Bro wasn't allowed to love him.)
Though, Bro still had a shred of remaining free will left in him, at least until it was completely eaten away. When he found Dave after his meteor touched-down on Earth, he gave Dave a pair of shades to wear (which, at the time, seemed silly when we first read it, but now that we know that Cal can control people--or, at the very least, be used as a means to control people--through eye contact (i.e. Jack Noir in the Prospitian prison), suddenly it isn't so silly...)
kinda makes ya wonder if he really was messed up abusive or only because of Cal's influence...too bad he dead and Dave hasn't questioned further where Lil Cal came from...
