Site Updates
This thread was originally made for a single issue, but I've decided to use it as a general updates thread.

Original text: FIXED Images not posting. The admin fixed it remarkably quickly! Carry on as usual.

In another site error, it looks like we're lost a lot of images.

Oh? We did have to roll back the server a day ago, after a raid, and did lose a few images due to that. Is that what you mean?

That's what I meant. I didn't know it was due to a raid.

i'm not sure if there is a better thread for this kind of post but i figured this could be good enough.

there are a ton of technical issues on this board, such as the search on the tag list not working, some sorting options also not working, etc.; i could list all of them when i have the time but i'm not sure if we have any way to counteract those.

also, do we have a way to counter vote brigading, such as by resetting a post's score to 0? there are some heavily downvoted posts because someone botted the site (or made 100 accounts) purely for their disliking of particular ships (erisol and iron maiden in particular). the current top 3 images on the booru also happen to have been brigaded since they have over 100 votes in just a few years, and all three have been posted by the same user which i find suspicious

hey! thanks for bringing this up. unfortunately i dont have direct access to the backend or the codebase at all, but if you have issues let me know and ill see what i can do by contacting the owner. unfortunately i know he cant devote a lot of time to it as hes busy and this site isnt exactly a high priority. what do you mean search on the tag list not working?
i've also noticed a few images that refuse to appear in searches by being linked directly to them. if we could compile these issues into a list it would probably help.

Another technical issue: translation notes are broken (example: post #131912)

ignore my search comment, at the time i didn't know that using the asterisk is mandatory. with that, it works perfectly fine.
the notes also technically "work", but to see them you have to hover on a random place on the tag list, at least in my case. also, you cannot edit/add new ones.

other issues i can think of... the administration panel is pretty much useless (most functionalities don't work), flagging the post for deletion does nothing other than letting you know someone tagged it as such when you visit it, deleting a post doesn't seem to reduce the overall amount of posts tagged with "deleteme" (though that may be intentional?), you can't search for posts by using the negative score (score:<-1 behaves as if you did not enter any search prompt at all and simply shows every post), the deleted post statistic does not get incremented when i delete posts, the resize image button on the posts also doesn't seem to do anything

that's all i can think of right now, i'm sorry for nor formatting it any better but i'm kind of tired right now

edit: comment count is not incrementing either.

has anyone else been having trouble doing pretty much anything lately? this booru's performance has deteriorated significantly, images can take about a minute to load fully, and not even just the big ones. some subpages also seem to need a while to load as opposed to doing that instantly.

tumblr, twitter, deviantart or any of the other websites storing mspa fanart don't seem to have this problem, so whatever is the root cause behind my problem has to be tied to mspabooru itself.

then again, apparently "the booru project is closing down" so maybe the hosting has been downgraded as a result

Last time this occurred, the main server was being DDOS'd pretty hard. I would not be surprised if this was the case again. I also am aware that at least one crawler for ai image training databases (which would dispraportionately impact our site) is behaving inappropriately and sending absurd amounts of pings, so that could do it.

I'm looking into the 'winding down' the booru project is doing, I'll report back my findings. My top priority is the preservation of this site as it's a vital record of our fandoms history.

i ran a test using the command prompt, i'm not sure how helpful the results are going to be in determining what exactly is causing this, but it looks like i'm getting a lot of packet loss - which again, only happens with the boorus associated with booru.org as well as booru.org itself

Pinging mspabooru.com [104.21.26.184] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Reply from 104.21.26.184: bytes=32 time=119ms TTL=52
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 104.21.26.184:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 1, Lost = 3 (75% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 119ms, Maximum = 119ms, Average = 119ms

honestly, i think it's about time for someone to come up with an alternative to the booru and migrate all the images from here somehow. easier said than done, obviously, but the amount of broken features, lack of any decent protection against vandalism, vote manipulation, among countless other problems and now the threat of the site going down at any point coupled with the poor performance as of late (or is it just on my end? still unsure, since no one confirmed nor denied) makes it pretty unsustainable in the long run.

it feels like the performance is slowly improving. it's still worse than it used to be but at least it's no longer taking literal minutes to load a single image.

i still have no idea whether that's only a problem on my end since nobody else is talking about it, but in any case - the site is actually usable now

EDIT 10 hours later: never mind, the extreme delay is back

having heard back, yeah it's basically just that the site is being ddos'd on and off. it'll be in and out, but they're doing the best they can. it's not being shut down or allocated less resources or anything.

i don't know what happened but images are no longer really getting deleted properly. try looking up the "deleteme" tag, and you'll see three images, including one that i deleted over two weeks ago (which, oddly, does not show up by looking up "cridea_jeevik")
also, they're still showing up on the list of all posts, but i think that's actually the case for all of them.
