I'm not certain if we're supposed to find this John cute or terrifying. The conspicuous splatter of blood forces me to re-evaluate how I read this entire drawing.

You know what, I think it's just there for contrast. John doesn't have blanked-out or deadened eyes, a Joker grin, or any of the other things you'd associate with depictions of a "snapped" character. He's just standing around smiling coolly, with blood on his face.

... Hell, maybe it's ketchup.
