As funny as this is I do kinda wonder if Dave butted in on a serious issue having little to nothing to do with him on purpose or just can't read the atmosphere worth shit.

He is a 16 year old boy it could be either.

it seems to me like he read the situation pretty well since he spoke up to tell Karkat that it's not really appropriate to seat himself on a chair while leaving Terezi to sit on the ground, considering the circumstances...

Then I guess he just felt the need to self insert himself where he wasn't really needed.

well Karkat left him on the line, so I assume they knew he was listening? Terezi is his friend, too.

besides he was keeping quiet only until Terezi raised the issue of the chair, so I really wouldn't hold it against him.

I guess. I'm not mad at him or anything I just don't really think his input was needed at that moment in time.

meta-explanation: if he, as a god-tier character, wasn't in the conversation, karkat and terezi would not be able to have a dialoglog as there would be no participant with the "gift of gab" patch

like I said, he raised a pretty valid point. It sounded like he was concerned that Karkat might be making her feel uncomfortable by literally looking down on her while she's in such a fragile emotional state.

I thought he was being surprisingly considerate? It's subtle social cues like that that people tend to overlook.

and the snarky tantrum bingo comment was just him being unable to pass up a golden opportunity to riff on Karkat.

I guess we're going to interpret it differently /shrugs.

The whole thing probably would have gone a little more smoothly if Dave was the one to have this conversation with Terezi, IMO. Karkat does have a tendency to be a little self-centered. I cringed every time he would swing the conversation around to himself. Like, the one thing you don't want to do when helping people with their problems is to make it about yourself.

... Like Dave doesn't do literally the exact same thing?
