Depends honestly, some cultures accept adopted children as valid heirs, some would say the next in line (amporras, if not them, makaras) would take the throne, others just dont have a backup plan and descend into anarchy.

it also becomes tricky since alternians didnt raise their kids, they dont have kids actually, so they dont track "lines of descent", so honestly, by letter-of-the-law, its purple blood of GTFO.

Actually, they do have lines of descent; even if all genetic slime gets mixed, every troll that is wriggled shares most of their genetics with another troll that lived long before them. Trolls with similiar genetics do get to share last names, but there can be things such as a troll from a "new" line who is a mix of genetics from previous lines, and there can be mutations.

We do not know who ruled Alternia before the Condensce, but it propably was someone of the non-ectobiological Peixes line.

We also do not know if trolls can have siblings, but there can propably be two of the same ancestor. Would they be raised by the same Lusus, then?

Did we ever get it confirmed that ancestors were a thing normal trolls really had in any large number? Yes Vriska thought it was but Karkat thought it was just highblood nonsense.
