It is indeed the one in question.

I guess so. I thought maybe he was just usin' it to push up his shades.

It looks like the artist accidentally drew a right hand instead of the left. When your palms are facing up your thumbs are on the outside.

Try and do the pose Dave is doing. It can't be done.

Oh, I think you might think that's his left hand. I always assumed it was his right hand, since it's on the right side of his face. Admittedly it's a little strained that we don't get to see any of his right upper arm.

Assuming that hand is connected to Dave's left arm (it appears to be that way, otherwise his arm would at an impossible angle) his thumb is definitely on the wrong side. the finger closest to the viewer is a pinky, and his thumb is the one sticking out behind the others. If it were correct his thumb would be at the forefront.

Yeah dude... I'm aware of hand structure. As I said in the post above, I'm taking it that that's his right hand, and you've confirmed that you're taking it as his left hand. If you stand in the mirror and try to do this with your right hand (or whichever one is the "far" hand, depending on your angle) you'll see that the pose is possible. You'll see it's tough to do it without your right upper arm showing at all, though, which does make this image look a bit off.
