I'd expect the opposite somehow (same colors, swapped designs) but this is cool too.

^No, the designs are kind of swapped too, just altered to make it more appropriate for the character. For instance, John's (well, Vriska's really, but whatever) coat transfers to Jade intact (she never wore anything like that in-comic) but she gets a skirt instead of pants.
