really confused about this ship name, wouldn't "iron maiden" imply karkat/aradia instead? is it for pumping iron?

it just seems like a very loose connection that doesn't indicate equius very strongly, especially when "iron" is already representative of another character entirely

....Eh. Honestly the first Vantas that would jump to my head when talking about 'iron' would be the sufferer since he was burned to death on irons. I really don't associate it with karkat strongly..or at all.

Yeah but he's never been associated with it in the comic, so I hardly would jump to the conclusion this ship name was about him

while official soundtracks aren't quite comic text, it's close enough to count. the only reason it isn't used in the comic, where all the other color names on that album are, is because his text color isn't his blood color.

either way, it's a much quicker connection to make than to equius, especially given that "medieval torture device = bdsm" is itself a big leap. my point isn't that "iron maiden" should be the karkat/aradia ship name, just that it isn't a very good or descriptive equius/aradia ship name
