It's probably like the Dancestors and Ancestors. Certain aspects were carried over, while others come out of nowhere.

True enough. Makes you wonder what parts of the alpha kids are exposition on the guardians or not... I guess the Guardians are still largely meant to keep their mystique at least for now.
