You know you can have a water bath underwater right? Heavy water with the extra hydrogen.

True, if pointless (& it's extra neutrons, not hydrogen as a whole).
Salinity gradients would make for an easier version I suppose.

Yeah, I saw a Cracked article once that talked about an underwater river. It even had a diver sitting in the "shore" pretending to fish, probably just for the Inception joke.
