AH has an in-canon discussion with Caliborn in which he explicitly likens Trickster Mode to Super Star Invincibility. I kind of forgot about that until now but yeah, they're pretty much one and the same. Invincible Mario is fast, unstoppable, hyperactive, accompanied by garish colors and an obnoxious (and very short) music loop.
