Her clothes are really two pieces. The upper part bodice is a metal covering that protects her internal mechanisms (robotic heart no longer present). It also covers over her full legged skirt that is attached either to the underside of the bodice, or directly below the mechanical parts on her body.

The more pressing question is how/where Equius got the skirt. Did he make it himself (and ruin several sewing machines/needles in the process) or face the indignity of buying it at Troll Macy's.
