I have to admit I am suprised at the amount of art Equius has. Not just of himself but with him interacting with other characcters. Sure a lot of it is him with either Nepeta and Aradia-bot; but also Gamzee, Karkat, Tavros, Eiradn and so on.
Compaired to Kanaya who is either being fashionable or with Rose or Vriska. Or killing Eirdan.

Kanaya is not exactly one of my favorites, but I agree that she gets probably the least fanon diversity of all the trolls.

You get a fair bit of creepy Fef and angry Fef though those can be equally exaggerated but at least they are diversity.

Quite honestly the only somewhat frequent scenario beyond classy lesbian / murder boner haver Kanaya I can think of is her being nurturing to Karkat.

Which is easily my favorite Kanaya.

^agreed but that too can be also part of the whole "small box" deal (if not lebsian vampire with rose or vriska, or fashion guru, it would be motherly pseudo-moirail with karkat or eridan).

that's what I'm saying. That's literally the only other thing I can really think of Kanaya popularly being depicted as doing.

Fandom seems to largely be content with making her such a character though, and there's nothing wrong with any of those things that she is (though she's a lot sassier then people give her credit for), she's just got the fandom character smoosh going on pretty badly.

Though I agree Kanaya gets put in a small box, especially in character interaction, I do see some other things out there. Some awkward Kanaya, which suits her. Kanaya is an awkward child.

Might have something to do with the amount of interaction we've seen. She never was in that many troll pesterlogs (though one WOULD expect more fanart of her and Feferi being silly together), and did not even get a walkaround in Alterniabound I unlike the other patron trolls. A lot of trolls didn't, but by comparision her "main" relationships have been fleshed out to a decent degree.

I think it's particularly weird how Kanaya and Terezi are two of the troll survivors and after three years we still don't have a very good idea on what they even think about one another.

Equius in contrast had quite a few interesting one-off conversations (incl. Karkat, Dave, Gamzee, Vriska) almost inviting extrapolation.
